Tome Of Polymorph: Turtle...Drops In Cata?

I hope you aren't invested highly in the Tome of Polymorph Turtle, as they have been able to be fished out of Cata water for around a month now. I have not seen you or anyone else mention anything of this, so here is my contribution to your great blog. Don't go anywhere! You cannot, I said so!

After verifying this at Wowhead.com, I see that it is a viable issue that can affect all us "flippers". I do feel that the price will not drop crazy, as the droprate is still an issue, but the rarity of this item has completely been washed with this "new" [at least to me] information.

So if you have them in your bags stockpiling, you might want to check your server, post in the AH, or even /2 trade before you see an influx of them floating around, and you see the average price drop from the 1-2K you are used to seeing to half of that.

*By an influx, even though this is still a "rare" drop, there will be more than ZERO dropping like we have all thought and have been told with ZG dying off, and no Ghaz to drop this little nugget of gold. They markets won't be "flooded", but you will see more than you have been. Can you say "Savory Deviate Delight"? I don't think it will be that crazy, but from going from a "never gonna see it again" to a "dropping in Cata", that's a difference there.....something we need to keep an eye on.

Once again, wow. That post I did just a an hour ago has already been outdated.....

Here Fishie, Fishie, Fishie! Undocumented Hotfix: Spawnrate Changed on Shipwreck Debris Pools

Enough of that....now, onto what you came here for:

The title says it all. I had a post a few weeks ago about fishing in Tol Barad (I originally read a post on The Gnomish Coin about farming Azshara's Veil there, but I was having issues with other herbalists farming against me, so I took a hand at fishing, you can see my original post here). Every few days, I like to go there, and if you read my previous post about hitting your "farming" locations post patch/server downtime (to see if there are any changes), this is just part of my WoW ritual.

Right away, I noticed that the Shipwreck Debris Pools

 were allowing me multiple casts. Not one time

(out of nine pools) was I allowed less than two casts.

The first couple, I was thinking maybe it was just luck.

 Then I decided it wasn't. Blizz must have changed the "proc rate" on the pools. So what about the Fathom Eels? Nothing changed, other that I had two procs of 3 (yes, 3) Volatile Waters that I had fished up. Nice. That might have been luck..... So off I go, with a fishing pole in one hand, and my keyboard in the other. Since this would be a blogpost, I clicked on the timer bar by the mini map, and started the stopwatch...One hour to go.....Here are the results:

Shipwreck Debris Pools: 9

Contents:

Volatile Water= 8 @ 20g - 160g

Azshara's Veil= 11 @ 9.5g - 104.5g

Sealed Crates= 12

What was in the sealed crates you ask? 

Heavy Savage Leather= 7 @ 55g- 385g

Embersilk Cloth= 39 @ 5g- 195g

Volatile Water= 6 @ 20g- 160g

Volatile Air= 4 @ 45g- 180g

Obsidium Ore= 22 @ 4g- 88g

Twilight Jasmine= 7 @ 9g- 63g

Pyrite Ore= 3 @ 22g- 66g

Elementium Ore= 6 @ 4g- 24g

Ok, so I didn't add up the gold in them. Don't hate. I am far from perfect. But I did add up the "junk". Basically a bunch of booze, but I am still wondering why they are still full (not empty). I know when I fish (outside WoW), I have to drink, not because I am an alcoholic (I am not) but because if I don't catch any fish, at least I catch a buzz....

Rumsey Rum= 3

Rumsey Rum Dark= 3

Rumsey Rum "Black Label" = 1

Jug of Bourbon= 2

Highland Sheep Cheese= 4

Buttery Wheat Roll= 6

Massive Turkey Leg= 6

Highland Pomegranate= 3

I didn't factor these into the total gold count due to they are copper and silvers vendored. And I drank them up anyways. Nothing like drunk WoW fishing, kinda gets hard to see the bobber with the screen fuzzed over....

Now I did mention that I picked up herbs as well:

Not too shabby.....3262gph (take out a few hundred for AH fees- but it is still a 3K per hour farm)....Now take in a few factors. There were others in the area, although I was still busy the whole time (only time wasted was between pools or nodes, and avoiding the shark....), I am on a PVE server (so no possibility of being ganked), and I was utlizing Path of Frost on my DK (quicker water movement). If you want to make a bit more gold, you can always utilize the mats you just farmed with professions (cooking up a few Skewered Eel or Seafood Magnifique Feasts)

Feel free to use these numbers and mats (if you fish and herb at the same time) and apply them to your server. I imagine the prices overall will be pretty close, give or take a hundo or so. This was and still is a viable farming spot for GPH.

Borean Tundra Fishing: Borean Man O'War, Quick Profits and Quick Embarrassment!

One of the comments left on yesterday's post from a loyal reader got me motivated:

I am slacking. My cooking has been sitting at 411 since Wrath. You ever have that feeling that you lost something? Keys, wallet, checkbook, etc? That was the feeling I had. I had left my cooking on the back burner (no pun intended). Growing up, my ma would tell me "Don't fret, it's not lost, you will find it in the last place you look". Yeah. Good point. I would get frustrated when she would say that, but she was ALWAYS right. Well, this time, it was Brouck's comment that made me remember that quote.

I have forgot about one of the first things that I made money with back in vanilla wow. Cooking. I cannot say how many Deviate Fish I have sold (actually, that's almost ticket worthy to find out....I wonder if GM's can look that up?). My estimate is in the thousands, and in fact, I still buy and sell them. And fish them...Do you? Quick gold, quick spawns, quick sales. But this post isn't about them. It's about Borean Man O'War.

I open up my cooking menu and at 411, I need to cook Black Jelly which takes 3 Borean Man O'War per. Great. No wonder I stopped leveling up....they were yellow, so I am sure after cooking a few back in the day, I gave up on them. Now don't get me wrong, fishing in WoW isn't bad, on a DK (water walk-freeze), but on a rogue? pfft. And in Borean Tundra? Even worse.

So I hit the AH (knowing that I never liked the area anyways) and type in Borean Man O'War: Nothing. Notta. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Instantly, I open /2......"WTB Port to Dal. 20g. PST". Next thing I know:

The funny thing is, even though this is my "main", and he has been around since '06, look at the full screen shot....

See? I told you I hated this place. Flying around farming the fish, I "discovered" the whole continent.

So to make a long story short, in just shy of an hour, I fished up almost three stacks of Borean's, tossed them in the AH (22g each, stacks of 5). Three hours later, I had a few minutes to log in and add to "The Openings" list of screenshots, and bam! All the Borean Man O'Wars sold! A bit over 1K for that hour's worth of work.

But there was a bad side to this.....I was so caught up in fishing in an area I hated that I forgot something.....

I am still 411 cooking....

Tol Barad- It'll "Lure" you in...

Ok, Ok. That was a bad pun. A really bad pun. Anyways, to get on with the post. There have been quite a few blogs written on Tol Barad, the one that I am focusing on is a well known farming spot for Azshara's Veil . There is a loop that you utilize for picking these herbs (first seen at The Gnomish Coin) However, this location is overfarmed on my current server (for the herbs). So what to do? Pick up the "lucky" fishin' pole and get to work between nodes!

There are alot of different "pools" that appear in Tol' Barad that I have seen, multiples of either the Fathom Eel Swarm or the Shipwreck Debris.

The Fathom Eels are currently selling for 10ish each, proccing 4 to 5 per "pool", with random Volatile Water (1-3) catches. Per pool I am averaging 60-100ish gold.



Now onto the Shipwreck Debris. On these, you can have anywhere from 2-3 pulls of the Sealed Crate. I have added a few screenies of the drops inside. Each "crate" will have a few gold, and varied loot. My average has been around 40-55ish gold per crate looted.







Remember, there are a ton of places for fishing in Cata, while you are farming your ore, herbs, or just plain ol' questing, click on your find fish on your minimap, and get yourself some extra coin, plus it's a great way to level fishing without really noticing it. =)
