Darkmoon Faire- Elwynn Forest This Week

I know, I know. Darkmoon Faire. And this month, it's in the wonderful land of Elwynn Forest. But you already knew that, right? For all the scribes out there, this is one of the best weeks for selling. Read on, young Grasshopper...

Now depending on your server, this is something that you all need to watch for. Not only watching single card prices, but "Turn-in Decks" and "Actual Decks" are what we are focusing on...kinda like a "D- All of the Above" situation.

Take some time this week and watch prices if you are unfamiliar with the fluctuations in the market during the Faire. A great way that I learn my server is through Auctionator Shopping Lists. I have a set list that I use for Cataclysm Decks. If you haven't used this addon or haven't used it's options, this is the time to learn how.....

First off, you will need to go to the Buy Tab (1) on your Auctionator Addon within your Auction House Screen. Next, add a New Shopping List (2): In this case, I labeled it Darkmoon Card (3). Now, under the list I already have (5), you can add in these in the search pane (4).  Upon writing the item in the search (for instance Darkmoon Card- (4)), you will see it drop to the window (6), then after you click add item (7), it will drop over to your shopping list. Easy enough? Good.

Now you have a few options. You can either open your shopping list and click individually on each, or you can click the "Search for All Items" (below the Add Item (7)) and everything on your list will pop up. Even easier? Thought so.

Now buy, buy, buy or sell, sell, sell! Once again, make sure you are on a 48 hour auction, make sure that you either A. have a stockpile of mats or B.) watch herb prices (as they fluctuate quite a bit during this upcoming week). Now craft, post, sit back and enjoy the sales coming in!

Darkmoon Faire Nerfed? Whadda Deal?

Last night, I received a Skype:

"Not sure about the turnins for the Greater Darkmoon Prize, but I turned in four of them, and I am just getting greens, nothing good, only a couple gold each. Should I keep going?"

me: "Well, it's always a gamble, but you might want to turn the rest in, the numbers should go in your favor...or just sell off the Dense Grinding Stones in the AH, lemme check on it and get back to you."

*a few minutes pass, I check on wowhead.com for any new info on them (I know you can't rely on them for 100% accuracy, but....well.....sometimes that's all we got)

me: "I am not seeing anything different from last month, so I would take the gamble if it was me, actually, I have a few I am turning in tomorrow"

"Nothing but greens. That's ten of them turned in. At least they are still profit"

Ugh. Did something happen between last month and this month? Did blizz change up the RNG? I normally figure that every 10 turnins, I get one "blue" or at least one schematic/recipe/formula.....(before you say that wowhead says those are 3%, once again, I don't feel that is accurate, at least in my experience)

Time passes, I crash, and upon waking up, my droid has a few Twitter messages on it, one of which mentioning the same situation, different person....

"This blows man, I didn't get shit out of any of them bags gonna see if I can maybe get more cheap stone today after work se why happens"

Dammit. Two folks having issues...Now I am wondering WTF? I have 164 Dense Grinding Stones in stock (enough for 20 turnins, or 10 Greater Darkmoon Prizes)....so I fly to Burning Steppes, take a quick flight, and I am at the faire...

When I mentioned to these folks a few days back about prepping for the faire, was I wrong? Obviously, yes....kinda.... I know both situations they didn't pay shit for the stones, one paid up to 5g per stack of the stones, investing a few hundred gold, so thats 1.25g per Dense Grinding, 10g per turnin, 20g per Greater Darkmoon Prize, and they only got 5-6g back? Fuck. That's a loss there....14g loss on each, actually....but they only got greens? Nothing good? How many did they go through? Well, the other cat got his for around 2g per stack, so that drops quite a bit, 50s per, so 4g each turnin, 8g per prize, still losing two gold each time.....they musta nerfed it....Alto gave bad advice? Did I word it wrong to them? I have ALWAYS made out profitable.

Until this time. After my turnins, I vendored up a measly 42g. So on that note, lemme figure numbers again.....

42g - 10 "random" greens level 52-57 (not even worth taking the time to link them...)
160 Dense Grinding Stones turned in
640 Dense Stones to start before crafting to Dense

So that leaves a break even cost for the Dense Stones at 6.5 silver each. 1.3g per stack. Now keep in mind that is basically a worst case scenario. And it truely is worst case. Before you go into saying "It's RNG, you need to turn in more quantity to have a better, more accurate number". Uhm. I hate to tell you, but I am personally not investing more time or money in this anymore, unless I can find them in the AH at the price listed above.....

So for my whole point of this post: RNG is just that, random. I do however believe that Blizz has changed some type of droprate on the more "rare" items from the bags, not sure why, they have been around since Vanilla. Or three seperate folks, on three seperate servers just have the worst possible luck....EVER!?

Well, I was still able to catch the little "buggar" Flik and get my Wood Frog Box, so I will profit in and around 100g on that one (you can see a previous post here). At least that one will cover any losses....

Have you turned any in today? Have you received nothing in return? Or did you get something? Speak out, I am really interested in how others have made out.

Goldmaking After Darkmoon Faire- Alto's "How To"

First off, I want to thank everyone that commented on yesterday's post. It was a very tough decision, and the winner is......Well, I can't tell you yet, I said Wednesday! I also wanted to thank Brouck for his post dedicated to me, "The Best Blog (post) Ever!". It means alot that someone cares that much to post something like that. Alright, with that outta the way, Let's rock on!

With the end of Darkmoon, we have a bit of time before the next one. What does this mean for us AH PvP'ers? Alot. See alot of people are gonna burn up their stock of their singles, because they want their gold back in their pockets. I can't blame em, and we are here to make some profits.

"Duh Alto, we know that already. How do I make gold? Get to the point already!". Ok. First off, you are going to want to hit the AH and open up your BUY tab. Now make yourself a nice and pretty Shopping List:

*Edit- Thanks to Syn in comments for this addition- To make it a more specific List with Auctionator you can also type: Quest/of embers,Quest/of the winds. it will come up with only the cards because it searches the quest category of the "of whatever" name.

of the winds
of stones
of embers
of waves
Earthquake
Hurricane
Tsunami
Volcano

Now I hope you added these to your new shopping list. If you didn't, go back and do it again, because to do this right, you cannot miss any of them. Got it? Good.

Now in this example, you can see that every single card is up for grabs. Nice. A full deck. Let's add em up quick and compare to the screenshot above.

Lets just round up a few gold and say 15K instead of 14923g (i didnt add silvers...). And how much is the full deck going for? 29K. The card? 10K cheaper at 19K. Now you do the math....see all them zero's? 15K investment, maybe a week on the AH, and you are looking at an easy 10,000g profit. "Ok Alto, your math is jacked again, that's a 14K profit". Gimme a minute to explain...

Now don't get me wrong, you might sit on this for a few weeks, or it might sell in a day. You might /2 it up and sell it in trade with something like "WTS Hurricane Deck- 5K cheaper than AH- my loss, your gain". Or not. Completely up to you.

Now all you have to do is keep posted on the different decks, and go from there. Before you say "This don't work on my server". Tell me which server you on, because I will check. It does. Now you might not have all the cards for one deck available right at this moment, but you can always snatch up a few now and change your list to "Needed Darkmoon Cards" (yes, I have one like that in case you were wondering). Obviously, there are some decks that are not worth the "flip" here, they might be lopsided, but I hope you got my point here. Now I have done this before and hit on it in a post, but this tosses a bit of more detail for ya'll.

By the way, this is great to do for the "old school" decks as well, and save them for the week before the faire to sell off (even the day of) for the folks that pay to turn in decks or that are buying the cheaper darkmoon decks to turn in for rep.

Now I gotta ask, how did your server look after checking? Some great deals out there, huh? If you don't see anything, either you need a new script on your glasses, you need glasses, or someone beat you to the punch...But I have a feeling that quite a few of you will see some great profits out there. Lemme know!
