Black Friday Deals 2011

Hey folks, Alto here.

As you all might have seen, my blog is kinda all over the place. I am hitting topics here and there, some relating to WoW, others, well, not so much.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. The economy isn't what it has been, and many people are out of work. What does this mean to you? As with every other year, the stores feel the impact. I for one am big when it comes to sales. In game, out of game, it doesn't matter. If I see a deal, I snatch it up.

Nearly my whole life, I can remember getting up in the wee hours of the morning to get tugged around by my ma going to different stores to get the good deals on the day after Thanksgiving.

Usually a cup of hot cocoa would accompany my frigid body, standing out in line waiting to visit the store (if anyone has seen the "you'll shoot your eye out" Christmas Story, I always kinda felt like the little brother, stuffed to the brim in cold weather gear). Although it was at times the most boring thing in the world to do, I have done it every year since, and will continue to do it, and soon I will pass it on to my daughter, to keep the tradition alive.

Have I stood in lines for hours? Sure have. Do I buy more than I should? Sure do.

Instead of you wasting your time looking for the deals or buying a sunday paper to get the fliers, I did it for you. No googling every store out there, I provided them below. Here are a few of the ones that I am running to (these are images of the actual newspaper flier, so bare with the page if your internet is slow...):

Ace Hardware

 Best Buy

There are a ton of black friday sites out there, so take your pic. The links I have above are for

For those in the US, are you hitting up anything on Black Friday? If so, what are you getting?

For those outside of the US, do you have something like this in your country?

I'm not spending one red cent on Black Friday. It's just more useless crap I don't need, and I'm already broke.

Thank you! i typically loathe crowds of people, waking up early and shopping in general, though if I find a good deal I'll do it anyways!

Also thank you for your links on veterans day. When I first glanced at it last week I thought hmm cool, but I know all the free meal places already, though I did make a mental note of the 10% off EVERYDAY at home depot and filed it away for a rainy day. Well today is pouring and I am taking a break from cutting drywall with a frigging steak knife (yes I realize how inefficient this is but I'm cheap and need to fix these holes my horrible children have made in our rental house) so off to Home Depot I go! I am not technically military but most civvies are too dumb to notice the difference between the spousal card and the regular one, or if they do they are too timid to wage argument with me over it!

In the UK the equivalent is the Boxing Day sales (we don't have Thanks Giving). The problem for the retailers over here is that everyone now expects a sale hence the consumer buys less at full price and awaits the sales. It's a bit like everyone being armed with The Undermine Journal for retailing! Like all forms of discounting, it is a hard drug to get off for the retailers. And of course, online retailing is taking over.
